Find out whether it is worth going on vacation to Crimea in the summer: what the weather is like, what to be ready for and what month is better to come. Personal impressions and experiences. Take note!

The beginning of summer in Crimea

I think June is the best summer months for a vacation in Crimea. The weather at this time is nowhere near as hot as in July and August, when the peninsula turns into a hot frying pan. The beginning of summer in Crimea is ideal for me: I can calmly sunbathe, and it is not so hard to go to the mountains, and it is easier to go on excursions, because there are fewer tourists. And the prices are lower compared to August! The only pity is that there is still no such abundance of fruits. On the other hand, delicious strawberries, cherries and mulberries are sold in early June.

In the first half of June the weather is warm, up to + 25 ° С. Tourists are already swimming, but for me the water was cool - about + 20 ° С. However, you quickly get used to it. If you want to swim in early summer or are traveling with children, choose Kerch or Shchelkino - the water in the Sea of Azov warms up faster. In the second half of the month, the tourist season is already in full swing: the water is comfortable, and there are many tourists. The beaches are crowded.

I read that it happens in the Crimea in the summer drainage of water (coastal upwelling) - rise of cold deep waters. Because of this, the water temperature can go down to +10 ... + 15 ° С! In Crimea, I have not met with this, but I felt the rush of water in Cyprus. It was unpleasant - it was impossible to swim, my legs were aching from the cold. Usually, the squeeze lasts from 3 to 6 days. This phenomenon almost does not affect the western coast of Crimea, so feel free to rest in Evpatoria or Tarkhankut.

Midsummer in Crimea

Summer in Crimea is a sultry haze, blinding glare of water, deafening cicadas and an intoxicating smell of juniper.

In the middle of summer, Crimea gradually turns into a hot frying pan. I sincerely do not understand those who go on vacation in July, and even with children: mostly the temperature is up to + 28 ° C, but often it is up to + 35 ° C, and there is almost no wind. Sometimes it gets very stuffy - in such weather I don't want to leave my room, let alone walk in the mountains and on excursions. According to reviews, the heat is not felt so much in Alushta due to the mountains.

Despite the heat, Crimea is full of people in summer. Nothing stops them. The water is already well warmed up (up to + 23 ° C), so the beaches are overcrowded - for example, to find a place on the beach, we had to get up before dark or go to remote corners where tourists usually do not reach. Find out about the best sandy beaches of Crimea, which are worth visiting - we have already been there and we advise you.

If you want to save money on vacation, come in May or early June. In the middle of summer, prices in Crimea jump up - both for food and hotels, and for excursions and entertainment. I advise you to book your accommodation in advance: check out our selection of private accommodation and the best hotels by the sea.

End of summer in Crimea

The end of summer in Crimea is almost the same as the middle. Is that closer to September it is no longer so hot. The water is comfortable, but not fresh milk. For a beach holiday, the weather is ideal, but there are crowds of vacationers, so prices are high for everything.

It is still hot to go on excursions and trekking, but it is at the end of August that I most often go for walks in the mountains: at this time, the nature of Crimea begins to change, yellow, orange and red colors of autumn appear, which enhances the beauty.
